Childcare Nurse Consultant 
The Child Care Nurse Consultant program was established in response to the growing need for services to enhance health and safety in child care settings and is funded through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the Illinois Department of Human Services.
Program Goals
• Safe and healthy child care for all children, including those
   with special needs
• Up-to-date and easily accessible immunizations
• Access to quality health, dental, and developmental
  screening with appropriate follow-up
• Health and mental health consultation and support
• Health, nutrition, and safety education
• Collaborations with health care professionals, child care
   providers, and families to improve the health and
   well-being of children in child care settings
Free Services
• Individual consultations with parents and child care
• Health education trainings for parents, providers,
   and children
• Assistance developing health and safety policies
   and procedures for child care programs
• Technical assistance with immunization record keeping
• Referrals to community resources
• Help finding quality child care for children with special
   needs such as asthma and diabetes
