Individuals with health conditions are more likely to
get flu complications. If you have a serious health
condition, you should talk to a health care provider
about getting vaccinated for both seasonal flu and H1N1
and determine whether you need to be examined if you get
flu symptoms this season.
Health conditions include:
* Cancer
* Blood disorders (including sickle cell disease)
* Chronic lung disease [including asthma or chronic
obstructive pulmonary
* disease (COPD)]
* Diabetes
* Heart disease
* Kidney disorders
* Liver disorders
* Neurological disorders (including nervous system,
brain, or spinal cord)
* Neuromuscular disorders
* Weakened immune systems (including people with AIDS)
This page contains additional resources for anyone who
at risk for flu complications due to existing health
conditions.
Remember, if you have any questions about whether you
are at risk for complications, contact your healthcare
provider.
