The Kane County Health Department’s Smile for Sealants Program is designed to support the Illinois Department of Public Health’s mission to identify children who will benefit from the placement of pit and fissure sealants on permanent molar teeth.

The services provided through this program include:

A dental screening/exam (no x-rays)

Prophylaxis, Fluoride, and Dental Sealants, if eligible

Classroom and individual education on oral hygiene and sealants

Information on oral health and sealants for parents

Referrals for children who need restorative or emergency care

These services are provided on-site at Kane County Elementary and Middle schools in districts U-46, 131, and 300.  The Kane County Dental Coalition would like to expand the program to every school district in Kane County that has a student population of 50% or more that qualify for free and reduced-fee lunch or a rural school district that has a median income at or below 200 percent of the federal poverty level for the entire district.
