Kane County has
instituted the CodeRED®
Emergency Telephone Notification System. CodeRED®
is an ultra high-speed telephone communications service for
emergency notifications. This system allows local officials
to telephone targeted areas of a municipality or the entire
County in case an emergency situation requires immediate
action (such as a boil-water notice, missing child or
evacuation notices) occurs.
The system
is capable of dialing 50,000 phone numbers per hour. It then
delivers a recorded message to a live person or an answering
machine, making three attempts to connect to any number.
This system
allows anyone within Kane County to update their residential
or business information, including cellular telephone
numbers, to be included in important call notifications.
