Per DCFS Licensing Standards for Day Care Centers Section 407.210, a health professional is required to visit facilities caring for infants and/or toddlers. These services are now being provided through the Kane County Health Department by Sally Bruce, RN.

Purpose of visits:
Observe child care techniques
Provide in-service training
Visits are advisory and non-regulatory

Frequency of visits:
At least weekly during permit period (generally a six month period)
Once per month thereafter

Services:

 Instruction and consultation on health-related policies
  Inservice training to center staff as requested by director
  On-going evaluation of child care techniques
  Observation of children for early identification of
     health/developmental problems
  Follow-up referrals for children with identified health problems
  Written reports of each visit shall be shared with administrative staff
  Assessment of all immunization records, if desired

Visits:
  Each required visit shall be one-hour in length
 Visits will be unannounced and made at various times
 A written report of each visit shall be shared with administrative staff on
the day of the visit

Fees:

 The fee for each visit will be $75 (Services contracted for one year period)
 Immunization audit services are provided at a per hour rate
 Inservices are available for a fee of $125

About Sally Bruce:
Sally Bruce has been a registered nurse for over 30 years
She has a BSN degree from Northwestern and NIU
She has been working in public health for the past 20 years
She is currently the Child Care Nurse Consultant for Kane County
