Per DCFS Licensing
Standards for Day Care Centers Section 407.210, a health professional is
required to visit facilities caring for infants and/or toddlers. These
services are now being provided through the Kane County Health Department by
Sally Bruce, RN.
Purpose of visits:

Observe child care
techniques
●
Provide in-service training
●
Visits are advisory and non-regulatory
Frequency
of visits:
●
At least weekly during
permit period (generally a six month period)
●
Once per month thereafter
Services:
●
Instruction and
consultation on health-related policies
●
Inservice training to center staff as requested by director
●
On-going evaluation of child care techniques
●
Observation of children for early identification of
health/developmental problems
●
Follow-up referrals for children with identified health problems
●
Written reports of each visit shall be shared with administrative staff
●
Assessment of all immunization records, if desired
Visits:
●
Each required visit shall be one-hour in length
●
Visits will be unannounced and made at various times
●
A written report of each visit shall be shared with
administrative staff on
the day of the visit
Fees:
●
The
fee for each visit will be $75 (Services contracted for one year period)
●
Immunization
audit services are provided at a per hour rate
●
Inservices are available for a fee of $125
About Sally Bruce:
●
Sally Bruce has been a registered nurse for over 30 years
●
She has a BSN degree from Northwestern and NIU
●
She has been working in public health for the past 20 years
●
She is currently the Child Care Nurse Consultant for Kane County
