Every five years, local health
departments in Illinois are required to
conduct a Community Health Assessment.
This involves asking people from all
walks of life—from private citizens to
health professionals—what they believe
are the most important health issues
facing Kane County.
Once the pulse of the community is
taken, the top issues become the
public health priorities for the next
five years.
The planning section is also
coordinating with the county departments
of Transportation and Development to
develop the 2040 master plan that will
incorporate public health into land use
decisions.

Planning Progress: |
|
On December 13, 2011 the Kane County
Board of Health reviewed the priorities
for community health improvement that
were recommended by the Public Health
Advisory Committee and the Health
Department’s leadership. As part of the
Department’s efforts to develop a new
Community Health Improvement Plan, the
Board also reviewed a draft of the
Health Department’s strategic plan. Both
“roadmaps” will be crucial as the Health
Department works to fulfill the vision
of making Kane County residents the
healthiest people in Illinois by 2030. |
