The Pharmaceutical Access Fund (PAF) assists low-income patients with their medication needs.  The PAF is a “Last Resort” program that will supplement (not replace) strategies that include discounting programs and pharmaceutical company Patient Assistance Programs.

Eligible Patients will:
  Have no insurance
 
Reside in Kane County
 
Have a valid prescription
 
Have a primary care physician who will complete the paperwork required to secure medications in the long-run.

The KCHAIN Pharmaceutical Assistance Fund will:
  Bridge the 30-45 day gap that exists with most indigent program applications
 
Provide a resource to residents who are unable to afford medications that are required for acute conditions
 
Assist residents who have circumstances that lie outside of the criteria for any other pharmaceutical program

The KCHAIN Pharmaceutical Assistance Fund will not:
 
Provide assistance for medications are that available for $4 through local retail pharmacy programs
 
Cover controlled substances; select pain, anti-anxiety, and depression drugs
 
Cover co-payments for medications for individuals with insurance.
