Stall Street for Kids
Kane County All Our Kids Early Childhood Network (AOK) created Stall Street Journal for Kids for use in child care settings, preschools and other community locations.

What is Stall Street Journal for Kids? It is a simple message for young children that provide a quick health message that is hung in the bathroom stall door or wall. Taking a cue from similar messages used in high schools and colleges for preventative health information, All Our Kids (AOK) Early Childhood Network of Kane County has developed health messages that provide learning on several levels for preschool age children. The health message is important but so is learning colors, word recognition, and names of objects and actions.

We know that young children learn through repetition. We also know that young children often spend time in the bathroom as they work on their potty learning skills. What better time for an adult to introduce or reinforce preventative health messages.

Since parents are their child’s first and most important teacher, a one-page information sheet will provide tips for parents and other adults help the child learn the health message and make it part of his life. Whether the message is eating fruits and vegetables or getting exercise, it takes time and gentle adult guidance for children to learn messages.
