988: Mental Health Crisis Support in Kane County

What is the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline?

988 is a free, confidential crisis lifeline available 24/7 to provide support for people experiencing mental health, substance use, or suicidal crises. When you call, text, or chat 988, you will be connected with trained crisis counselors who can offer immediate support and resources.

A recent study found that the launch of the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline was associated with significant reductions in suicide mortality among adolescents and young adults nationally. Observed reductions were larger in states with the highest uptake of 988 Lifeline services.

When Should You Call 988?
