DVOP specialists provide Intensive Employment Services utilizing a Case Management approach to eligible Veterans with Significant Barriers to Employment (SBE) – which includes age (18-24 years old), VA-Service Connected Disability Rating, Homelessness, Recent Military Discharge combined with at least 27 weeks of unemployment, formerly incarcerated, lack of GED or high school diploma, and living at or below the poverty Level – to assist them in obtaining their employment goal.
Application assistance for verterans and their dependents who are applying for various federal, state, and local verterans benefits. These include VA benefits, discharge upgrades, financial assistance and other basic needs.
Emergency homeless shelter for men, women and families serving Elgin, Rutland, Dundee and Hanover Townships. The shelter is open 24/7, 365 days/nights a year. We also provide comprehensive case management services to every guest.
Riverwalk Adult Day Services cares for adults 18 and older with some form of cognitive decline or challenge. We provide a safe, social, and stimulating environment for adults who are navigating conditions/diseases such as dementia, Parkinson's, intellectual disability, Down Syndrome, stroke and traumatic brain injury.

24/7, confidential crisis support for Veterans and their loved ones
Our Veterans Smile program only serves the Veterans themselves. We fund the critical dental care needed for our program eligible Veterans in need. We locate a dental provider within the area of which the Veterans resides. We then refer the Veteran to the specific dental provider. We then provide funding for: dental consultations, dental x-rays, tooth extractions, dentures or partial dentures.
In Elgin we provide Veteran Case Management Servies, Behavioral Healthcare, Veteran Suicide Prevention (SPACES), and have our Housing is Recovery program. Through this program we provide individuals with the highest risk of homelessness and institutionalization with the support they need in order to lead independent, productive, healthy lives.
