The Living Room is a mental health crisis alternative for adults offered by AID. It is a comfortable, non-clinical space that offers an alternative to hospital emergency rooms for those experiencing stressful and anxiety-provoking situations (psychiatric emergencies) so that they can be resolved without more intensive intervention.
The Living Room is open 3-8pm Monday-Thursday at Association for Individual Development, 1240 N. Highland Avenue, Aurora, IL. No appointment needed.

The Community Crisis Center provides a 40-bed emergency shelter for women and their children needing a safe place to stay. A case manager will work with you while you are here to help resolve your situation. Additional services provided include: meals, professional case management, individual and group counseling and material assistance. Assists those in domestic violence situations initiate an Evidentiary Will/Abuse Affidavit (EAA) which tells the victim’s stories, histories and experiences that are preserved and stored on their behalf. This unique and proven approach prevents more serious crimes that begin with domestic violence and stalking, up to and including homicide. It allows the voice of the victim to be heard, even when they are not able to tell their story. The affidavit and video will provide answers to the many questions, allegations, and fears that arise when a person has disappeared, gone missing, or been found dead. It can assist law enforcement with identifying a person of interest and/or charge or arrest the perpetrator/abuser. Document the Abuse can also train organizations to assist others with their EAA.

We provide mental /behavioral health services such as individual therapy, group therapy, case management, anger management classes, family counseling, play therapy, and parent coaching.
The Kane County Sheriff's Office special victims unit serves the unincorporated area of Kane County. The special victims unit umbrellas senior services, serious crimes against minors, domestic violence and sexual assault victims. The SVU focuses on investigating crimes, as well as offers social work support for community members in need of services. These services include: mental health support, substance use, juvenile complaints, hoarding, homelessness, veteran assistance, and any case requiring social services.
The KCSO also offers the A Way Out program, which provides substance abuse assessment 24/7 to anyone in Kane County that wishes to seek recovery. Appropriate inpatient or outpatient referral and placement are determined by assessment and based on availability. If you are unable to pay for treatment due to a lack of insurance or financial resources, you will not be turned away from participation in the program. Kane County works with providers that are able to accept a number of different insurance plans and accommodate those without insurance.
